Welcome fellas!

Hei metal thristy midgets! I decided to make a diamond in the pile of crap that fills this website. A real heavy blog talking of music so good it makes you deaf, with the info YOU wanna know, not the crazy groupie bullshit!! Little note: maybe I'll put more about some groups that are obviously my favorites but just try to ignore it. =) I'll make my best to discover yet unknown bands and show it off to you guys cuz I'm damn fantastic (agree or die). I guess I said it all... see ya.

Tuska Open Air 2008

Tuska Open Air is the biggest metal festival of Scandinavia which occurs at Helsinki (Finland) every year. It was organized for the first time in 1998. Last year (2007, for those who just landed on earth), the main artists were Blind Guardian, Children Of Bodom, Dragonforce, Emperor, Finntroll, Katatonia, Moonsorrow, Vader and Stratovarius.
This year, the planning is not yet finished but some bands that will probably come are Amon Amarth, Behemoth, Korpiklaani, Kreator, Tyr and more. Sounds like a Viking atmosphere! =) Tickets for Tuska 2008 will go on sale on a later annouced date through www.tiketti.fi and www.lippupalvelu.fi.

[[By the way, the word "tuska" in finnish means pain!]]

Icewind

Icewind
I just discovered a great new band based in Montreal, Canada. For the perfect power styled band, the vocals have the be not too annoying, the keyboards no too obstructive and there have to be actual good guitar riffs. On this score, Icewind gets the point. Their debute album, All is Dust, is friggin' solid and catched my attention even in some of the ballads of the album. The vocals are impressive and damn complicated in some parts. They can be somehow labelled as the Sonata Arctica of North America. Cheesy album artwork, great tunes, speed riffs: the match is done. 8,5/10

Anette - Like it or not?

Anette - Like it or not?
Most people know that Nightwish, an excellent symphonic metal band (again from Finland!) fired their wonderful operatic-voice singer Tarja Turunen in 2004. This year, after an intense session of auditions, demo listening and never-ending searching, they finally find their star. Anette Olzon. The former singer of the swedish classical rock styled band Alyson Avenue is now here to fill Tarja's shoes. And she did it well in Nightwish's new album Dark Passion Play. But is she good enough to satisfy the angry Tarja nostalgics? I don't have a strong opinion on that. Actually, no one can really replace Tarja, particulary in the old fans' hearts. But let's be honest for a second: Anette is a nice, beautiful and talented singer that sure has brightened up Tuomas and the guys' carreers. With a surface looking of the album, I was sure impressed... by the music. That made me wonder about a thing or two. I made up with the conclusion that there were 2 things that before made Nightwish's music so special: Tuomas's musical genius and Tarja's power and feelings. But according to Tuomas and stuff, Tarja was a diva bitch so well... I guess they found a singer to fill the blank space that she left and YES she did the job well.
At least good enough to care, so go buy the album and a ticket to their May 2008 tour and stop pissing me off as well.

I guess that's pretty clear for me, but what do you think of Anette? Comment.
